News from the Calgary M.E./CFS Conference Canada held its first national conference on M.E. in the fall of 2008 and the MEAO was there. Here's a short introduction on our participation and there are links to 10 different presentations from that conference so you can read about the latest in medical information, coping with M.E., legal issues and more. The MEAO would like to congratulate Dr. Eleanor Stein and her team for the excellent work in putting together the M.E. Medical Training workshops on M.E. and arranging the conference on Fatigue and M.E. Maureen MacQuarrie and Christiane Garcia both attended on behalf of The M.E. Association of Ontario and have come back from the conference greatly energized and enthused by the potential for national collaboration and networking for both research and for awareness about M.E./CFS. Maureen reported back that "It was a great opportunity for us as MEAO representatives to meet others from across Canada and from the States - patients, doctors and researchers and to share ideas!" The Public Lecture was the largest gathering devoted to ME/CFS in Canada - at least 250 people were in attendance. The M.E. sessions were complemented by a Research Symposium on Fatiguing Illnesses which was attended by a cross-section of researchers from a range of disciplines. There are many podcasts from the workshops which are available online (free of charge) at the University of Calgary Medical School's website. Click here to access the podcast. |
